Hunger is not just a 3rd world problem affecting countries far from our own shores. In fact, 50 million Americans, including 17 million children, struggle with hunger on a regular basis.

The Food Insecurity rate in the state of Florida is 14.1%. In Pinellas County, the rate is higher, at 15.7%. Children who are considered Food Insecure are 25%, or 1 in 4.
- The poverty rate for children in Florida is 25%
- Single-parent families with children in Florida that are in poverty is 35%
- Overall poverty in Florida is 17%
- Senior citizen poverty in Florida is 14%
We are happy to offer services to the homeless with weekly food giveaways at multiple locations throughout Pinellas County, including our annual Thanksgiving giveaway at the homeless shelter in Pinellas, where a team of volunteers feed over 300 people, providing karaoke and other entertainment during the day.
We have many outreach efforts feeding the homeless on a regular basis. If you wish to join us, call 727-240-0734 to learn what is coming up and see if you can be a part.
We believe food is a way to show love towards others. For the elderly and disabled, a good meal can be just what it takes to make life seem worth living. Children become all smiles as they get enough to eat at last. Parents are relieved. Men and women who have been homeless and addicted for years start to believe that life can be different. For everyone, the meal is a time to connect with others, build relationships and to consider how the message of hope they just heard can apply to their lives.
Food is given out at the Food Bank located at Pathways Community Church, 801 Seminole Blvd., Largo, FL 33770, every Friday morning starting at 10:30am. Please call 1 week in advance to register for food at 727-397-4707, ext. 133 and leave a message. Someone will call you back to confirm an appointment for food box pick-up date and instructions.
